In 2023 Mental Health Europe presents the fourth edition of the European Mental Health Week (EMHW) from May 22 to May 28, 2023

The theme for this year’s activities is “Mentally healthy Communities”, aiming to raise awareness and knowledge about mental health in various settings and communities such as schools, workplaces, homes, etc. EMHW aims to create an environment in which individuals can thrive, by promoting destigmatisation, mental health education as well as awareness raising. It emphasizes the importance of mental well-being in fostering thriving communities. The focus lies in cultivating understanding, empathy, and support for individuals with mental health conditions. EMHW endeavors to actively promote mental health education, encouraging engagement within homes, schools, workplaces, and communities

Raising awareness about mental health remains crucial, given the prevailing stigma and misconceptions that continue to surround mental illnesses. While there has been progress in recognizing mental health issues, comprehensive understanding and knowledge remain incomplete or unbalanced. European Mental Health Week acknowledges the necessity of comprehensive knowledge as a foundation for well-being, especially in the face of contemporary challenges such as the pandemic, climate anxiety, and financial stressors.

EAAD-Best with its community-based 4-level intervention model strives to tackle mental health issues on a community level and supports the aims of European Mental Health Week in 2023.
